About this role
The value of a structured approach to training needs analysis and course development has long been recognized. The FAA introduced the Advanced Qualification Program in 1990 as an alternative framework for the conduct of initial and recurrent training. The JAA equivalent regulation - JAR-OPS 1.978 - was incorporated in 2006 (now OPS 1.978). Structured training models have 2 characteristics. First, they are focused on operational need. Second, they are closed-loop models which incorporate mechanisms to evaluate the performance of the training system against the needs of the Flight Operations Dept. This highly-practical course looks at the processes involved in developing an Alternative Training and Qualification Programme in an airline. It examines the skills needed to safely transition to the new model, the stages in implementing ATQP and the data-driven feedback loops needed which provide the quality control of the training process. <br /><br />The Alternative Training and Qualification Programme (OPS 1.978) can best be summed up as 'Train the way you fly, fly the way you train'. This course will provide training managers and designated Inspectors with the skills to achieve the goals of ATQP in a safe and cost-effective way. Each of the ATQP building blocks is examined in detail and delegates will begin the process of building the ATQP framework for their own airlines. <br /> <br />Content <br /> <br />Learning Objectives: After completion of this course you will have acquired an understanding of: The Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process Conducting a Task Analysis Developing a Training Needs Analysis Curriculum Development activity Developing valid and reliable tests in training and checking Techniques of Instructor standardization The Evaluation of Training Risk management during training development Project management for major training projects<br /> <br />Target Group: Operators <br />operations personnel from Flight OPS and Crew, including Nominated Postholders, Quality managers, Flight Safety Officers, <br /><br />Authorities <br />Flight Safety Department managers and inspectors with training oversight responsibilities. <br /><br />International <br />Airlines and authorities with an interest in competence-based training. <br /><br />This course will serve as an Introduction to Instructional Systems Design for any personnel involved in course design.
