About this role
Course Category: Civil Aviation Authorities and National Enforcement Bodies.<br /><br />An air transport specific three-day programme specifically designed for staff of Civil Aviation Authorities and National Enforcement Bodies.<br /><br />The European Regulation 1107/2006 (hereafter EUR 1107) of the 5th of July 2006 concerning the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility (PRMs) when travelling by air entered into force in August 2006 and applies with effect from the 26th of July 2008. <br /><br />This regulation establishes rules for the protection of and for the provision of assistance to disabled people and PRMs travelling by air, both to protect them against discrimination and to ensure that they receive assistance. The objective is to ensure high and consistent levels of protection and assistance throughout Europe. <br /><br />The airport is responsible for organizing the provision of high quality assistance and for fully implementing the regulation in accordance with ECAC Doc 30. <br /><br />EUR 1107 stipulates also that each European Member State has to designate a national body responsible for the full enforcement of this Regulation. <br /><br />In addition to the EUR regulation, there is another law that will affect many European carriers and airports: in May 2008 the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) published the Final Rule of 14 CFR Part 382 to extend the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) to non-U.S. carriers. It will come into force on the 13th of May 2009. <br /><br />This course aims to provide practical-based training to give the NEBs and CAAs a full understanding of EUR 1107 and of U.S. 14 CFR Part 382 and their full implementation within the airport environment in order to be able to take all necessary steps within the enforcement process. <br /><br />The course is highly participative and promotes a best practice approach. The NEBs and CAAs will be provided with a first-hand update of the current European situation regarding the implementation of EUR 1107 and the upcoming U.S. legislation.
