About this role
To perform Electrical Engineering activities within the Electronic Design Centre of Excellence, principally supporting Power Projects, from early design concept through to qualification. To develop electrical product designs for aerospace applications, and to support Engineers of all levels in the fields of power distribution, power control and aircraft utilities management. Essential Responsibilities: *The Electrical Engineer will undertake design activities for electrical products and systems. Activities will include the development of product requirements and definitions, detailed wiring designs and component selection. *The Engineer will also support projects in design reviews and will be available to provide technical advice to other departments, customers and suppliers. *The Engineer will integrate and verify electrical products and systems, and supporting products through environmental and EMC qualification test. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer will be available to diagnose and fix design problems in existing products. *As a member of the Specialist Group, within Electronic Design, the Electrical Engineer will undertake tasks to cost and schedule, and will provide regular feedback and status reports to the Group Manager. Qualifications/Requirements: *A degree or equivalent level of knowledge or experience in Electrical Engineering or a related subject. *Experience designing electrical power distribution and power systems (AC and/or DC systems up to 100KVA). *Experience in the electrical design of products, focussed on wiring, relays, contactors, circuit breakers and electrical power panels. *Able to demonstrate knowledge of electrical power generation, distribution switching and control. *Experience defining requirements, developing specifications and selecting electrical components for power applications, and ability to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met. *Ability to diagnosis skills technical issues in Electrical Power systems and to develop practical solutions suitable for manufacture. *The candidate will have experience in developing and/or implementing Electrical System design and test strategies, including functional test and power variation. *The Electrical Engineer must be available to support qualification programs on site at Cheltenham, as well as at external test houses, and to visit component suppliers, in the UK and abroad, and must have the flexibility to work extended hours when required.
