This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a growing team of 15 Engineers responsible for an assigned software section. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership and people management experience within a technical engineering background. <br /> <br />Responsibilities: <br />* Provide leadership and technical direction for Sub-Section programme tasks and personnel <br />* Establish goals for Sub-Section staff, within framework of Software technical and financial objectives <br />* Maintain full awareness of efforts within sub-section to assure technical quality excellence, on-time and to budget completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / programme needs <br />* Manage resource supply and demand for Sub-Section, including recruitment of permanent staff, placement of work at global sites and outsource of work packages to suppliers <br />* Support recruitment and training of apprentices, placements (interns) and graduates, to ensure pipeline of software staff <br />* Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organisations and within Sub-Section <br />* Communicate with management on technical, organisational, resource and staff issues <br />* Define roles and responsibilities for sub-section staff <br />* Conduct appraisals, performance management and participate in salary planning <br />* Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counselling <br />* Provide support council and recommendations to Software Section management <br />* Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within Sub-Section <br /> <br />Key Requirements: <br />* Degree from an accredited university/college or equivalent level of knowledge or experience <br />* Direct line management and/or programme/project leadership within an engineering environment <br />* Software team management/organization experience <br />* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills <br />* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems <br />* Strong oral and written communication skills <br />* Ability to guide and influence others <br /> <br />Benefits: <br />*Exciting and a variety of leading edge technology. <br />*Good opportunities for career development, regular reviews and career planning. <br />*Pension Scheme. <br />*Flexible Benefits <br />*Excellent Relocation Package. <br />*Share Option Scheme <br />*Good location and working environment. <br /> <br />Successful applicants will be required to obtain UK MOD security clearance prior to appointment.
