<p>Our customer is a world leader in the manufacture of composite & metallic component for the Aerospace, Automotive, Space & Defence markets.</p> <p> </p> <p>They are seeking to appoint a Systems Support Specialist for their operation based just off the South coast of the UK.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Role Purpose</b></p> <p>To maintain and develop a secure, stable and responsive operating environment across the company's WINTEL computer systems, supporting the business. To support the installation and maintenance of stable, secure and efficient data centres and network infrastructures. Whilst your specialism will be Wintel based systems, you will also be expected to work as an integral member of the infrastructure team on general infrastructure projects and some Unix based systems. A ‘hands-on’ approach to the role in providing 1st/2nd/3rd line support is required.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Key Accountabilities</b></p> <ul> <li>Maintain and develop secure, stable and responsive operating environments to support the company's Wintel servers, workstations and client base.</li> <li>Ensure that essential data is securely stored on networked servers and that the data is effectively backed-up and restore procedures are sufficient to support the business.</li> <li>Schedule maintenance windows to install, patch or upgrade the systems.</li> <li>Ensures the security and protection of the networks and the servers.</li> <li>Perform backups and work with the other IT staff to ensure all documentation for our equipment is kept current.</li> <li>Assess IT developments and their impact on the company's computing infrastructure, and supply technical input to implement new technologies that can provide business benefit.</li> <li>Contribute to an integrated infrastructure to enable data to be exchanged between all computing systems in the company and externally, including PDM systems.</li> <li>Selection of solution, preparation of quotations and processing orders for software and hardware purchases for approval by the IT management, tracking purchase orders and managing returns.</li> <li>There will be a requirement to operate as part of an on call support team providing 24hr support to critical business systems.</li> <li>Additionally, there will be a requirement to form part of the weekend operations rota maintaining the integrity of data backup media. <p> </p> <p><b>Skills, experience & qualifications.</b></p> </li> <li>MCSE certified.</li> <li>Computer Science or related degree qualification is desirable.</li> <li>Formal Wintel qualifications, training and certification. <p>5yrs minimum equivalent experience supporting large corporate infrastructures.</p> <p>· Membership of a relevant Professional Body</p> <p>· Extensive Wintel Operating Systems Administration experience</p> <p>· Experience in System Management Tools in a networked environment.</p> <p>· Good knowledge of engineering IT environments.</p> <p>· Unix support capabilities.</p> <p>· Good knowledge of PDM system management, especially PTC Windchill.</p> <p>Experience of the management and operation of IT environments incl.: Server, SAN, infrastructure design and build experience.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><b>Person spec</b></p> </li> <li>Technically astute (infrastructure, hardware, software) with a passion for IS/IT.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience of how to manage risk in IS/IT in both an operational and development environment.</li> <li>Able to influence stakeholders at all levels but particular expertise in influencing at board level and within a senior peer group whilst maintaining honesty and integrity at all times.</li> <li>Must be of keen intellect and able to juggle varied and abstract concepts</li> <li>Has good judgement in considering when escalation is appropriate.</li> <li>Strong minded and committed, focussed on delivery.</li> <li>Self-starter who shows initiative and ambition with a 'high energy' approach.</li> <li>Flexible approach and can manage diversity across technologies, people and international cultures.</li> <li>Vision, creativity and imagination for new solutions to continually improve.</li> <li>Keep up to date with current technologies and assist in research of future technology.</li> <li>Ability to work as a part of a team or in isolation</li> <li>Resourceful and adaptable. <p>· Able to travel as required by the position including internationally</p> <p> </p> <p>This is an excellent opportunity to join a world leading organisation.</p> <p> </p> <p>Contact Simon Portway for full details.</p> <p> </p> <p>· <i>Only candidates with the right to live and work in the EU will be considered. </i></p> <p><i>Regrettably only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.</i></p> </li> </ul>
