About this role

<p><strong>Purpose:<br /> </strong>To provide day to day control of all structural engineering avtivities with the objectives of compliance with airworthiness requirements and meeting specifications, cost and schedule requirements. This includes liaison with CAA, EASA MOD, customer, contractors and internal departments on all matters relating to the required structural, engineering standards as directed by the Technical Director.<br /> <br /> <strong>Main Responsibilities:<br /> <br /> 1. </strong>To ensure that the Structural Engineering Group is managed in an effective and well documented manner in accordance with good engineering practice and the Company's quality assurance system.<br /> <strong>2. </strong>To ensure that the work of the Structural Engineering Group supports the overall manufacturing process by the timely production of stress analysis requirements and drawings approved for production.<br /> <strong>3. </strong>To ensure that an effective liaison and advisory service is provided to regulatory bodies, customers and operators by the Structural Engineering Group.<br /> <strong>4. </strong>To ensure that accurate and timely costed estimates are provided for stressing activities to collaborating departments within the company.<br /> <strong>5. </strong>To ensure that an efficient and timely system of dealing with field service enquiries exists within the stress office.<br /> <strong>6. </strong>To ensure that internal and external requests for concessions and production permits are responded to in a timely manner.<br /> <strong>7. </strong>To ensure they do not endanger themselves or others by the use of unsafe working practices.<br /> <br /> <strong>Main Tasks:<br /> <br /> 1. </strong>To be an active member of the company management team, taking part in regular meetings with manager groups.<br /> <strong>2. </strong>Carry out the day to day management of the Structural Engineering Group.<br /> <strong>3. </strong>To deal with customers and operators with respect to repairs and modifications to in-service aircraft.<br /> <strong>4. </strong>To answer shop floor and other internal department queries with regard to materials and processes.<br /> <strong>5. </strong>To respond to internal and external requests for concessions and prodution permits.<br /> <strong>6. </strong>To liaise with regulatory and other bodies such as CAA, FAA, EASA, AAIB, NTSB, MOD and so on under the guidance to the Technical Director.<br /> <strong>7. </strong>To Liaise with suppliers of components and materials.<br /> <strong>8. </strong>To deal with field service enquiries.<br /> <strong>9. </strong>To assist with the production of service literature and technical publications.<br /> <strong>10. </strong>To undertake any other reasonable responsibility and task required to support the activities of the company.<br /> <br /> <strong>Person Specification:<br /> </strong><br /> Ability to achieve strategic objectives.<br /> <br /> Customer Service orientation.<br /> <br /> Ability to supervise staff and hold them accountable for their responsibilities.<br /> <br /> Ability to lead and develop a team of skilled people.<br /> <br /> Numerical analysis and report writing skills.<br /> <br /> Good interpersonal skills and able to communicate at all levels.<br /> <br /> <strong>Specialist Knowledge:<br /> </strong><br /> Practical knowledge with preferably apprentice type training.<br /> <br /> Able to derive overall aircraft loads and load distributions.<br /> <br /> Computer literate and familiar with normal office and spreadsheet techniques.<br /> <br /> Familiarity with FE techniques. ( Desirable )<br /> <br /> <strong>Experience:<br /> </strong><br /> 10 - 12 years post graduate experience.<br /> <br /> Experience of stressing techniques applicable to light/general aviation type aircraft.<br /> <br /> Of an experience level to become an approved stress signatory within the company approvals.<br /> <br /> <strong>Education/Qualifications:<br /> </strong><br /> Academically qualified to degree level or experience in lieu of ( or well established as a chartered engineer ) in an aeronautical or structural discipline.<br /> <br /> <strong>Other:<br /> </strong><br /> Able to work unsupervised and supervise the work of others.<br /> <br /> Security Clearance.<br /> <br /> If you would like to apply please send your CV to <a href="mailto:ben@luap.com">ben@luap.com</a> or call 01403 217688</p>
