<p><strong>Position Title: </strong> Manager Operations Development</p> <p><strong>Department: </strong> Jetstar Group</p> <p><strong>Location: </strong> Singapore</p> <p><strong>Reports to Position: </strong> Head of Ground Operations</p> <p><strong>Positions Reporting</strong></p> <p>(Directly to this one) </p> <ul> <li>Nil</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position summary: </strong> </p> <ul> <li>Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvements in all Operational areas against our shared KPIs;</li> <li>Managing major change initiatives and supporting the delivery of cross-AOC programmes involving multiple and complex projects;</li> <li>Reducing external spend and identifying opportunity to better managing suppliers in airline operations across the Group;</li> <li>Supporting the creation of new Jetstar branded business units with leadership of work streams or in embedding the low-cost values and Jetstar model;</li> <li>Supporting Jetstar branded airlines in developing operational infrastructure that is in line with Group standards.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Responsible for leading cross-functional work forums and supporting business owners with identification of improvement opportunities;</li> <li>Contribute to the continual enhancement of the Jetstar Group businesses on operational goals, objectives and KPI’s including short term and long term business planning;</li> <li>Responsible for implementing and strengthening the low-cost Jetstar culture within the airline operations teams;</li> <li>Development of business case scenarios to present to Senior Management for assessment;</li> <li>Management of projects to implementation within specified budget and timeframes;</li> <li>Development and update of project plans for approved projects and status reports on progress and budget compliance.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Accountabilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with all safe working procedures and policy requirements;</li> <li>Liaison with departments within the Qantas and Jetstar Group e.g. Jetstar franchise businesses acting as a champion of the Jetstar business model;</li> <li>Liaison with airport authorities and operators, as well as government regulators as required;</li> <li>Liaison with external customers and stakeholders as required;</li> <li>Liaison with external suppliers.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Person Specifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills;</li> <li>Experience and comfort working within a dynamic and fast paced team environment;</li> <li>Communication skills, and the ability to influence, negotiate and debate with others building positive working relationships;</li> <li>Flexible approach to problem solving including tolerance for ambiguity;</li> <li>Demonstrated organisational expertise, with the ability to work within company and group policy;</li> <li>Self-disciplined – able to work effectively independently and within a team;</li> <li>Sound business acumen with demonstrated ability to make a strong business contribution on process and results;</li> <li>Strategic thinking skills will be needed for business decision-making both within operations and across the business;</li> <li>Extensive low-cost airline experience to challenge and drive behavioural change;</li> <li>Significant exposure to different operating jurisdictions and operating areas to bring “industry leading, best practice” solutions to the table.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in managing a large team to achieve strong cost and efficiency improvements;</li> <li>Proven experience with contract negotiations and large-scale procurement activity;</li> <li>Be flexible and adaptable to respond to the changes in a fast growing business whilst remaining focused on the overall objective;</li> <li>Tertiary qualifications in a relevant business discipline;</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of airline technical operations and regulatory environment;</li> <li>High-energy person with strong team approach and influencing skills.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and able to communicate to all levels of the organisation;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Position Dimensions / Scope:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Accountable for delivery and management of the Group Operations project plan FY2011/12.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Reporting Relationships:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage the requirements & expectations of the Head of Group Operations;</li> <li>Manage the development needs of direct reports (as applicable) and their teams;</li> <li>Share and consult across the broad Jetstar Group.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p>
