About this role
<p><b>MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p> <p><b>Oman Air is the national airline of Oman, and also the monopoly ground handler in the country. We are looking for a dynamic individual to run Oman Air’s hub operation in Muscat, Oman. This role also handles all airline functions for over 30 airlines, operating into Muscat. The role works closely with the airport authority, and is involved in the expansion of the airline into the new airport, targeted for late 2014. The position oversees all functions of airport operations, including GSE workshop, Ramp, check-in and transfer. Given that the airport is scheduled to move, but the airline is still growing fast, the role will require some radical thinking on how to accommodate growth in the near term. As such, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:</b></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> To plan, monitor, oversee entire Ground Operations activities under the supervisory limits and provide timely assistance in resolving issues/queries arising from the reporting sections which include Passenger Services, Ramp Services, Cargo services, contract & Customer Relations, Rostering and Schedule section, liaise with other airlines for contract and/or operational issues and ensure smooth and efficient operations of all Ground Operations sections within the guidelines set by the company adhering to IATA and other civil aviation regulatory standards.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Monitor, oversee and assist by providing timely help for smooth and effective completion of all reporting sections operation.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Make sure to provide all customers with a quality service that exceeds their expectations in arranging and handling of all airlines operations.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Constantly monitor and ensure that that all customer airlines are having contract with Oman Air and monitor contract expiration to take necessary action steps for renewal or termination.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Monitor to ensure that operation runs up to the standard of Concession Agreement with airport authority.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Monitor to ensure that airline customers are met with the level of services as per the standard level agreement and services are met with AHS1000 certified by IATA.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Participate in airport development and expansion projects and analyze the operational requirements and bring it to the attention of external consultants for timely corrective action steps.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Monitor and ensure to have a commitment to co-workers to build harmonious relationships and work as a team with a commitment to continuous improvement at a corporate and individual level at all times</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Carry out career development programme for Omanis and develop an Omanisation plan for the Unit.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Carry out training plans to develop skills of in coordination with MPS, MRS and MC.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Carry out staff appraisals and rewards are awarded to enhance staff morale.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS </b></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Graduate in any discipline is preferable or equivalent demonstrable experience.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> 10 years in airline industry with a minimum of 5 years in Ground Operations function; ideally in a Hub.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Good people management skills, with a willingness to share your knowledge and enthusiasm.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Seasoned experience in airport operations, ideally in a hub environment with a high proportion of transfer passengers.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Overseas experience in airline/airport management.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Resilience, patience and determination to succeed, yet with a flexible approach to changing the course to get there.</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Excellent Man management and time management skills</p> <p><img alt="*" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/GOODMA~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" /> Computer literate</p> <p> </p>
