About this role

<p>Our customer is a world leader in the manufacture of composite &amp; metallic components for a number of diverse industries that includes Aerospace, Automotive, Space and Defence markets.</p> <p>They are seeking to appoint a Composite Tool Designer to join their R&amp;D team based on the Isle of Wight.</p> <p>The applicant will have a good understanding of the aerospace composite industry, proficient in tool design and construction methods and will demonstrate experience of delivering &quot;tool concept&quot; through to physical hardware to time and cost.</p> <p>The scope of the tooling will range from large metallic mould tools constructed by either fabricated construction or a cast construction up to a weight of 6 tonnes.</p> <p>You will possess a keen attention to detail with the associated handling equipment and more general process tooling such as machining fixtures and smaller component detail tooling.</p> <p>The tooling will integrate features such as moving parts, splits and heating elements, in addition the tooling may also have a requirement to integrate with automated processes such as automatic deposition or robotic assembly.</p> <p>The applicant will need to show an in depth knowledge of the use of CATIA V5 for both 3-D modelling using various work benches such as assembly design, part design, generative shape design (surfacing) and the 2d package of Draft and its application when applied to tool design.</p> <p>In addition to the 3-D modelling and drafting a good working knowledge of geometrical tolerance and the effects of thermal expansion is also required.</p> <p>The incumbent will also be required to support tool through its manufacture (on or off site) and through to final commissioning phase.</p> <p>This position will offer an attractive annual salary &amp; package to the successful applicant.</p> <p>Contact Simon Portway for full details.</p> <p><i>Only candidates with the right to live and work in the EU will be considered. </i></p> <p><i>Regrettably only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.</i></p>
