About this role

<p>We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Software Development Engineer to work on the design and development of software control systems for automated test equipment primarily for use in the aircraft industry working for a fantastic company based in Suffolk, UK.</p> <p>Job Specification<br /> The successful applicant will be experienced in the design of control software and design methodology for large projects using National Instruments LabVIEW, and TestStand and the development of Real Time control systems, test engineering &amp; systems integration.</p> <p>PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:</p> <p>1.&nbsp;To interpret internal Product Design Specifications and assist in the preparation of the Functional Design&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; specifications in order to design and develop the software control of the test equipment.<br /> 2.&nbsp;To produce and compile, as necessary, all related software documentation in support of the Functional Design&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; specification.<br /> 3.&nbsp;To comply with the internal procedures and standards relevant to the running of the Engineering Department.<br /> 4.&nbsp;To liaise closely with the Customer on all technical issues.<br /> 5.&nbsp;To provide technical support to other departments and disciplines when requested.</p> <p>PERSONAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:</p> <p>1.&nbsp;Minimum ONC qualification in a software or control related subject, or equivalent skills &amp; experience. <br /> 2.&nbsp;3+ years of applied, &quot;hands-on&quot; software design experience in a related industry.<br /> 3.&nbsp;Demonstrate proficiency in National Instruments LabVIEW programming and automated test equipment.<br /> 4.&nbsp;Demonstrate proficiency in National Instruments TestStand.<br /> 5.&nbsp;Excellent experience with data management, data acquisition, device control and instrument communication.<br /> 6.&nbsp;Excellent knowledge of SQL server databases, relational database architecture.<br /> 7.&nbsp;Must be able to write software specifications.<br /> 8.&nbsp;Possess an excellent understanding of hardware at the interface level.<br /> 9.&nbsp;Excellent knowledge of embedded real time operating system.<br /> 10.&nbsp;Experience in the control of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems would be an advantage.<br /> 11.&nbsp;Self motivated with excellent organisation and co-ordination skills.<br /> 12.&nbsp;Good numeracy, literacy and report writing skills.<br /> 13.&nbsp;Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.<br /> 14.&nbsp;Experience in working in a quality approved environment such as ISO 9001.<br /> 15.&nbsp;Knowledge of PLC/HMI control solutions and ladder logic programming would be a distinct advantage.<br /> 16.&nbsp;Some UK and overseas travel may be necessary from time to time.&nbsp; Therefore the applicant must hold a current&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; driving licence and valid passport.</p> <p>To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.</p> <p>For more information please call Tony on 01403 217688 or <a href="mailto:tony@luap.com">tony@luap.com</a>.</p>
