<p><strong>Main Purpose:</strong></p> <p>The Training Mentor is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a number of training initiatives which are prepared specifically for the ICAA’s ATC requirements. These include classroom and simulator training, development of dedicated materials / manuals, development and implementation of an Academy Unit Training Plan (UTP) within which there would be documented processes for annual competency checking of Instructors and Academy Staff (initial validation of ratings, Emergency Continuation Training (ECT) and refresher training on an annual basis).</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Tasks which would be designated to the position would include providing assistance for the following:</p> <p>1. Liaise with Flight Safety as required.</p> <p>2. Develop a comprehensive training plan for all ‘Academic’ training requirements and activities associated with Air Traffic Control.</p> <p>3. The progression of the Academy Unit Training Plan (UTP). The UTP will lay down a framework of structured courses that not only meet current training requirements but can be developed to keep pace with a changing ATC environment. The aims of the UTP are:</p> <p>· to impart the knowledge and skills gained on initial training</p> <p>· to ensure that all training is conducted effectively</p> <p>· to detail the responsibilities of staff involved in ATC training</p> <p>· to detail the processes involved in training, assessment and validation</p> <p>· to provide a roadmap for training progression</p> <p>4. Monitoring of the training performance of each Trainee to ensure adequate instruction is provided during all phases of training courses, ensure that all personnel involved adhere to the objectives of the UTP and ensure that all assessments are fair and objective.</p> <p>5. Ensuring training documentation is robust, complete and up-to-date for each Trainee.</p> <p>6. Ensure progress checks / assessments of Trainees are completed to ensure the training objectives are being met and the standard of the Trainee is consistent with what has been reported.</p> <p>7. Ensure progress appraisal interviews are completed with Trainees in TIs accordance with the Academy UTP, the Couse Leaser and the Academy Manager.</p> <p>8. Coordinate remedial training based on incident investigation recommendations.</p> <p>9. Inform Director Air Traffic Services and the Contract Manager on a regular basis of the progress of Trainees and recommend remedial action if necessary. </p> <p>10. Review Training Files regularly and ensure correct reporting processes are maintained as per Academy UTP requirements.</p> <p>11. Ensure that full consideration is given to safety in relation to any changes to processes and organisational structure.</p> <p>12. In consultation with operations the Training Mentor would organise courses including but not limited to incident investigation, safety management systems, OJTI, Examiner and supervisor/ manager courses.</p> <p>13. Develop and oversee the initial ATCO training program through an ICAA Aviation Academy.</p> <p>14. Assist in developing and overseeing a Local Competency Examiner (LCE) program.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Knowledge</b></p> <p>· Comprehensive knowledge of ATC procedures, ATS standards and industry best practices.</p> <p>· Comprehensive knowledge of ICAO Rules and Regulations pertaining to the training requirements for air traffic controllers and peripheral operational requirements.</p> <p>· Comprehensive knowledge of ICAO Rules and Regulations pertaining to the operations and delivery of ATS.</p> <p>· Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of current mainstream application software. required for the management of a modern ATC unit, including word processing/desktop publishing, spreadsheet and graphic presentations.</p> <p>· Development of training materials/manuals to meet the requirements of specific courses.</p> <p><b> </b></p> <p><b>Skills </b></p> <p>· Demonstrable communication skills in a multi-cultural environment.</p> <p>· Ability to manage people successfully.</p> <p>· Ability to prepare monthly reports, and when required, present these to the client.</p> <p>· Possess excellent report writing skills.</p> <p>· Ability to monitor deadlines and performance in-line with required standards outlined within contracts.</p> <p>· A mature, proactive and responsible approach to work with initiative and problem solving capability.</p> <p>· Ability to liaise in a professional and persuasive manner with staff at all levels in the organisation.</p> <p>· Ability to understand complex systems and possess good IT skills.</p> <p>· Flexibility, excellent attention to detail, ability to identify key issues and manage an environment of regular change.</p> <p>· Ability to think strategically, execute quickly and adjust plans to meet organizational needs.</p> <p>· Able to hold sensitive and confidential materials in strict confidence. </p> <p>· Able to work independently under stringent deadlines and high pressure environments. </p> <p>· Function as a resourceful and proactive team member. </p> <p>· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines and schedules.</p> <p>· Strong analytical skills; ability to work with complex issues and detailed information.</p> <p>· Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.</p> <p>· Good judgment and decision-making skills.</p> <p>· Adapt well to changing priorities.</p> <p>· An assertive completer finisher with high level personal presence and credibility.</p> <p>· Intuitive, with outstanding interpersonal influencing and communication skills able to develop and motivate others.</p> <p>· Ability to align strategic and operational needs with training programs and organizational development efforts.</p> <p>· Ability to see problems as opportunities and to manage well under pressure.</p> <p>· Ability to influence senior management and establish and maintain collaborative partnerships.</p> <p>· Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in speaking, and able to convey complex information in an easily understood format. </p> <p>· In-depth ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Experience</b></p> <ul> <li>Experience in managing ICAO-compliant training in a classroom and simulator environment.</li> <li>Experience of managing people and the provision of services to a corporate client.</li> <li>Operational ATC experience in a relevant civilian ICAO rating.</li> <li>Previous OJTI experience in a civilian ATC operational environment.</li> <li>Experience in the evaluation of student performance and subsequent delivery of relevant reports.</li> <li>Experience in a multi-cultural environment an asset.</li> <li>Middle East experience an asset. <p> </p> <p> </p> </li> </ul>
