<p>Job Summary Atkins Aerospace is a progressive and rapidly expanding part of the Atkins group of business. We provide high end technical and project management services to the prime aerospace companies. We are a strategic supplier to both Airbus and Rolls-Royce and, and as such we are involved in some of the most challenging and exciting aerospace projects in the world including the A350XWB and A400M aircraft programmes. We are now seeking the right individuals to join our growing aero-structures team in Bristol. The position of Aerospace Senior Composite Structures Engineer is ideally suited to high calibre engineering graduates with significant and appropriate post graduate experience. You will be expected to take full ownership of technical tasks, and to lead others in their execution. Job Details The requirementsCandidates will ideally be degree qualified in an engineering discipline with a minimum of a 2:1. You will be a recognised expert in the analysis of lightweight Composite structures and have experience of leading teams to deliver effective technical solutions to time, quality and cost objectives. Aerospace industry experience would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite. A demonstrable track record in one or more of the following technical disciplines is required:Fatigue and damage tolerance analysis of composite laminatesStatic stress analysis of composite structures, including bolted and bonded joints and buckling analysisFinite element analysis of composite laminates and sandwich structures Candidates must also be able to demonstrate:Technical awareness in the field of composite structures including an appreciation for composite design and manufactureEffective client management and communication skillsProject team leadershipCommercial awarenessAdaptabilityInnovative thinking Desirable Criteria Ideally you will be:Possessing aerospace experience, covering aero-structures and/or aero-enginesPursuing Chartership through the IMechE or RAeS</p> <p>Additional InformationSome work outside normal office hours may be necessary. Travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to clients offices may also be required. Secondments to other aerospace offices in the UK or overseas may be available.</p> <p>SECURITY - All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to BC level.
