<p><strong>Aero-Systems Engineer &nbsp;<br /> Emerging Threat Team<br /> Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire SP4 0JQ<br /> Salary: circa £34,000</strong></p> <p>You’ll work within the Emerging Threats and Software Team which is part of Dstl’s wider Threat Evaluation Group (TEG). As an Aero-Systems Engineer, your technical expertise will be vital in helping to assess weapon systems that pose a real danger to our Forces, in addition to helping inform procurement decisions as well as countermeasures and tactics.</p> <p>Putting your skills to good use, you’ll help deliver the group’s technical ability – improving our capability and understanding of system models, modelling frameworks and methodologies to support robust decision-making. You’ll also make a positive impact to the international community of practice by scoping out improvements and refinements of modelling frameworks. Part of your responsibilities will be to write clear and concise briefs on project outcomes and to keep your knowledge up-to-date to ensure we’re creating solutions for tomorrow as well as today.</p> <p><strong>About the requirements</strong><br /> You’ll need at least a degree in Mathematics, Physics or an appropriate Engineering discipline, along with a strong scientific or technical background to succeed. Any modelling and simulation experience within an electronics laboratory is advantageous – but not essential – as is experience of MATLAB / Simulink and basic programming in C, C++. Any understanding of weapon systems would be helpful, however equally important are your team skills, the ability to prioritise your work and to communicate well (both written and verbal). Some travel is to be expected as you’ll need to visit various laboratories and test facilities, so flexibility is important.
