About this role

<p>Job Purpose<br /> • Provide management with expert guidance on workplace incident and accident investigation, resulting in safety recommendations and remedial actions to reduce risk of recurrence.<br /> • Ensure that Emirates Group operations are compliant with relevant Workplace Health &amp; Safety regulation by assisting in the development of the Emirates Group WH&amp;S policies.<br /> • Provide oversight of the application of these policies through the conduct of workplace audit and inspections, risk assessments, guidance and training to all business areas. Providing reports and follow-up to ensure that recommended changes are implemented.<br /> • In liaison with Group Safety Training and Promotions, develop and validate Workplace Health &amp; Safety Training programmes to promote and assure understanding of required process activities, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance and SMS knowledge.<br /> • Maintain the Group database of hazard / risk registers to increase levels of safety through the implementation of Safety Performance Indicators (SPI) and Safety Performance Targets (SPT) in the area of Workplace Health &amp; Safety.<br /> • Develop and assist in the management of the SPTs through risk mitigation strategies.<br /> • Manage and participate in the investigation procedures for workplace incidents resulting in actual or potential injury, loss or damage, to identify the causal factors and determine necessary remedial action so that re-occurrence is prevented.&nbsp;<br /> • Conduct continuous reviews of key departmental safety performance indicators related to WH&amp;S with respective line managers and monitor agreed remedial actions to improve safety awareness and standards.<br /> • Be a key member of a number of Safety Action Groups. These Safety Action Groups rest in all line departments. The presence of a Group Safety representation in each of these meetings assures the on-going compliance with the Safety Policy requirements.</p> <p><br /> Qualifications &amp; Experience<br /> • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)&nbsp;<br /> • 5+ years in a Health &amp; Safety related Position, in an industrial and /or regulatory area; five years supervisory Health &amp; Safety experience preferred.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Knowledge/skills:<br /> • Ability to develop and implement Health and Safety Policies, satisfying the requirements of regulatory agencies of respective countries on the Emirates network.<br /> • Ability to conduct and produce reports technical investigations after accidents and incidents to determine their cause.<br /> • Writing high quality structured technical documents and reports.<br /> • Developing and conducting training sessions of a technical and motivational nature.<br /> • A high level of computer literacy is required.<br /> • Knowledge of global health and safety regulations and requirements.<br /> • Knowledge of Airline Ground, Cargo and Engineering operations</p> <p>This role has been designated as a Safety Sensitive Position i.e. a position which involves activities where, because of risk to the individuals concerned or to others, the employee needs to have full, unimpaired control of their physical and mental capabilities. It will therefore be necessary for the provisionally selected candidate (if not working in a current safety sensitive position) to undergo a medical check- up with our Emirates Clinic for a fit to work evaluation, prior to a decision being taken to select / not select.
