The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) of the Department for Transport, one of the leading Air Safety Investigation Authorities in the world, is now seeking to recruit specialists to complement its experienced team.<br /> <br /> You will be instrumental in determining the causes of civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents worldwide. As part of our specialist team you will make a lasting, positive impact on aviation safety.<br /> <br /> <strong>Inspector of Air Accidents<br /> (Engineering)&nbsp; Ref: 1424260<br /> £71,584 Farnborough, Hampshire</strong><br /> <br /> You will be responsible for the engineering aspects of an investigation - from examining wreckage to exploring relevant human factors. Your varied remit will encompass managing specialists on-site, interviewing<br /> technical personnel, carrying out forensic examinations, writing detailed reports, identifying safety issues, drafting safety recommendations and giving expert technical evidence in court.<br /> <br /> You will have Chartered Engineer status or have an appropriate engineering degree, together with extensive and current professional experience in aviation engineering. Your technical and analytical skills will span every aspect of aircraft engineering, ideally including modern complex digital avionic systems.</p> <p>We are seeking people who are highly motivated and comfortable accepting great responsibility and working under pressure. Equally comfortable working on your own initiative and in a team, you will bring to the role excellent communication skills, both in writing and in person. You may work in all manner of locations and environments, on land and at sea, so we will expect you to pass a medical assessment suitable for the role.<br /> <br /> This is a challenging and constantly evolving field of work, so you will be encouraged to proactively keep abreast of the latest techniques.
