<p><em><strong>Play an important role at the leading edge of aviation safety</strong></em></p> <p>Aircraft accident investigation has never been more demanding. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) of the Department for Transport, one of the leading Air Safety Investigation Authorities in the world, is now seeking to recruit specialists to complement its experienced team.<br /> <br /> You will be instrumental in determining the causes of civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents worldwide. As part of our specialist team you will make a lasting, positive impact on aviation safety.<br /> <br /> <strong>Inspector of Air Accidents<br /> (Engineering - Flight Recorders) Ref: 1424273<br /> £71,584 Farnborough, Hampshire</strong><br /> <br /> You will be responsible for recovering and analysing recorded information from flight recorders, aircraft systems and other equipment. The evidence you retrieve will help you piece together details of accidents, aircraft<br /> behaviour and avionic system performance. You will write detailed reports, draft safety recommendations and give expert technical evidence in court.<br /> <br /> You will have Chartered Engineer status or an electronic/avionic engineering degree, plus broad and current experience in flight recording or digital avionics systems. Your expertise may encompass digital electronics system development, recording techniques for aircraft performance, or digital audio recording and acoustic analysis.</p> <p>We are seeking people who are highly motivated and comfortable accepting great responsibility and working under pressure. Equally comfortable working on your own initiative and in a team, you will bring to the role excellent communication skills, both in writing and in person. You may work in all manner of locations and environments, on land and at sea, so we will expect you to pass a medical assessment suitable for the role.<br /> <br /> This is a challenging and constantly evolving field of work, so you will be encouraged to proactively keep abreast of the latest techniques.
