<p><strong>Job Purpose</strong></p> <p>Direct and lead all learning and development activities of the Group Medical Training Department in line with corporate objectives. The role will provide expertise in the specialist areas of Occupational Health, First Response and Learning and Development to specific business departments. The role will also create and implement standard practices/procedures in line with company policy, Group Medical Services, Legal, Regulatory standards and external providers in response to the rapidly changing requirements.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Job Outline</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strategically plan for delivery of operational training in particular for aircrew taking into account the operational as well as commercial factors. This will require a close working relationship with Service Delivery and Flight Operations. Be responsible for the First Aid Policy and Process in line with ‘First Aid Training and Allowance Policy’ for ground staff as defined by HR. This involves the conducting and analysis of risk assessments, identification of numbers of first aid staff to be trained, levels of training, and ‘sign off’ for the first aid allowance, in line with local and international regulations. Create procedures and guidelines and standard operating procedures that support operational, regulatory, and legal requirements.</li> <li>Direct and manage all activities of Group Medical Training for the Emirates Group through a team of Training Specialists, Seconded Trainers and support staff in line with long and short term corporate strategies. Use these as the basis to identify priorities, objectives, and critical learning and development requirements.</li> <li>Partner with Learning Technologies on curriculum design and development input to both classroom delivery and flexible learning options, to ensure relevancy, recency, quality, and effectiveness of all learning and development interventions. This also includes revision and adaptation of existing programmes.</li> <li>Identify, initiate, and manage multiple projects by agreeing project objectives, deliverables, milestones, roles and responsibilities within defined project charters. Provide regular feedback on the progress and success of projects to the line department and relevant EAC sections to ensure that all projects meet agreed timelines and budgets budget.</li> <li>Provide consultancy and act as a subject matter expert in the areas of First Response and Occupational Health in respect of new aircraft equipment, services, and training strategies required as result of key business change initiated by Senior Management, SVP – Medical Services, internal business departments, and external regulatory bodies and standards. Maintain good relationship management with both internal and external clients and partners (Line Manager’s, EAC, other support functions, Department Heads) and be able to provide them with all the necessary assistance, advisory services and implementation support. Conduct post learning and development intervention reviews to check the intended benefits to the business have been realised.</li> <li>Identify and provide input in areas of weak performance in process, organisation, people or systems. Define appropriate learning and development interventions that can be implemented by the line department, EAC, or both combined (e.g. performance coaching, mentoring, on job evaluation, briefing sessions). Ensure accountability for KPI’s for course delivery outcomes, ensuring that skills, knowledge, and resource development are acceptable to the respective line departments.</li> <li>Prepare annual budgets to monitor and control expenditure and conduct monthly reviews of business plans to ensure they are appropriate to meet organisational strategic growth requirements. Achieve reduction in unit costs by optimising resources and implementing cost effective solutions. Produce ROI tables and Cost/Benefit Analysis summaries in support of cost savings and efficiencies.</li> <li>Proactively review and analyze medical reports, voyage reports, EK medical statistics, feedback from external suppliers etc for the process of evaluation for new and existing trends. This also includes Benchmarking with other airlines, and key organizations. Implement approved recommendations where appropriate. Demonstrate the value of GMT programmes ensuring high standards of learning effectiveness. This will require working collaboratively with Learning Technologies and L&D Specialist Quality Assurance & Audit, Medical Services, Legal and other international regulatory bodies.</li> <li>Promote the ethos of ‘life long learning’ that encourages continued professional development in the constantly changing environment of First Response, Occupational Health, and Learning & Development by research, evidence based practice, and best practise methodologies that incorporate ‘adult learning principles’.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Qualifications & Experience </strong></p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Degree or Honours (12+3) in Nursing, Paramedical Studies or the Health Sciences, with additional qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.</li> <li>Hold professional membership/registration in the areas of nursing and occupational health Professional Training and Development qualification.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience to manage a training delivery team within operational business units.</li> <li>Understanding of legal, safety, and legislative regulations and requirements and the ability to apply these appropriately.</li> <li>Thorough knowledge of adult learning and development processes and methodologies.</li> <li>Experience of developing relationships and managing expectations with business partners.</li> <li>Experience of working within a multi-cultural global organisation.</li> <li>Demonstrated tolerance for ambiguity in a dynamic business environment, where priorities may change due to new and short notice initiatives.
