<p><strong>Investigator - Safety</strong></p> <p><strong>Salary:</strong> £38,000 - £42,000 depending on experience<br /> <strong>Contract: </strong>Full time, Permanent<br /> <strong>Hours: </strong>Monday – Friday, 0900-1730 hrs<br /> <strong>Location:</strong> Crawley, West Sussex<br /> <strong>Closing date:</strong> 19th February 2016</p> <p><strong>In a nutshell</strong><br /> Responsible for carrying out safety investigations into incidents and near misses, contributing to the development of corporate safety standards and assisting in maintaining those standards through reactive and proactive Safety/Risk Management, contributing to the continuous improvement of the Corporate Safety &amp; Security Management System.<br /> <br /> To communicate and promote safety and raise safety awareness through the provision of reviews/audits and investigations and the cascade of safety data and information in order to safe guard the company’s customers, suppliers, staff and assets.<br /> <br /> This role must also build strong networks and relationships internally and externally to embed safety as one of our core values.</p> <p><strong>Day to day<br /> Safety Management</strong><br /> Provision of technical safety expertise to other parts of VAA e.g. product changes &amp; new initiatives/ procedures to ensure that safety is paramount in the decision making process<br /> <br /> Incident investigation and reporting of reportable occurrences to the relevant regulatory body, keeping them informed of actions and ensuring that learning is captured and risks managed appropriately.<br /> <br /> Undertaking Safety Audits / Safety Assessments as defined by the Safety Manager to ensure compliance to safety standards<br /> <br /> Liaising with and advising company training departments on safety best practice and examples of successes and failures to ensure up to date safety knowledge is cascaded to VAA personnel.<br /> <br /> Providing risk assessment guidance, training &amp; facilitation to business unit management and staff when required to build in house safety capability<br /> <br /> Active member of the ‘On-Site’ investigation team and Crisis Management Centre in conjunction with Corporate Safety &amp; Security<br /> <br /> Actively participate in company projects, providing expert safety advice.<br /> <br /> <strong>Safety Promotion</strong><br /> Analysing and presenting safety performance data via a range of meetings and communications channels to ensure degradations in safety are identified and to monitor the effectiveness of safety interventions.<br /> <br /> Dissemination of safety related information and feedback from events and investigations using internal communications media to ensure organisational learning and continuous improvement.<br /> <br /> Be visible in the business in order to listen to the people delivering the service/operation and build this into safety plans.<br /> <br /> Represent VAA at industry working groups to promote the safety agenda<br /> <br /> <strong>Data Management</strong><br /> Ensure the content of VAA safety manuals and data is up to date<br /> <br /> Review and update the company safety reporting database (IRMA)</p> <p><strong>About you</strong><br /> We are looking for candidates who have a genuine desire to make a difference to safety. You will have integrity and independence with an ability to balance safety and risk against business and operational demands with a confident and positive approach. You’ll have the ability to think analytically and creatively in order to arrive at effective solutions.<br /> <br /> You will have detailed technical knowledge and experience of the operational area and investigation techniques.
