About this role

<p>As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available including <strong>Strategic Buyer</strong> to join our Interior Structures Business.</p> <p>This person sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare bid packages.</p> <p>Specifically includes:</p> <ul> <li>Together with the Purchasing Manager, create and implement commodity strategies which meet programme objectives</li> <li>Identifying potential suppliers for the Structures Business who may be able to offer new, innovative products in accordance with program objectives</li> <li>Evaluating potential suppliers through an audit process</li> <li>Working with the potential suppliers and the program team, identify opportunities to reduce weight and cost, and address quality issues</li> <li>Maintaining a minimal selection of suppliers with whom B/E can adopt a true “partnership sourcing” approach to minimise cost and increase profit throughout the supply chain</li> <li>With Purchasing Manager and Company Lawyer, creating and maintaining appropriate supply agreements, leading the negotiation phase</li> <li>Leading contract implementation with suppliers ensuring a Supply Chain FMEA is completed to assess and mitigate risks</li> <li>Support and work closely with the Tactical Procurement team to ensure supplier performance is in line with required and contracted terms</li> <li>Ensure the suppliers are ‘rate ready’ to support production</li> <li>On a timely basis, leading the procurement, change management, sample validation and receipt of components to meet program timing, commercial and quality objectives</li> <li>Monitoring and reporting supplier performance to compliment objectives on delivery and inventory</li> <li>Ensuring that new parts have all necessary supplier, commodity and cost data established on JDE</li> <li>Ensure conformance to departmental procedures in all activities</li> <li>Work in conjunction with engineering to achieve BOM cost targets for product designs</li> <li>Any other reasonable duties as required <p>Level of Work</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Requires job specific proficiency and good working knowledge of standard practices, procedures and protocols</li> <li>Interprets and applies data analysis, procedures and policies</li> <li>Independently resolves routine to moderately complex problems</li> <li>Develops higher-level knowledge and skills required to independently resolve complex issues and perform most sophisticated assignments</li> <li>Performs tasks and supports projects under general supervision</li> <li>Direction Given in: Projects and Tasks <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Materials Management background MRP, ERP etc</li> <li>Experience in a Materials Management or similar environment</li> <li>Able to demonstrate previous experience of designing and implementing supply chain strategies</li> <li>Proven track record of achievement in a relevant position</li> <li>Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc) - (proficient in Excel using formulae &amp; VLOOKUP)</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills</li> <li>Driven, with a will to develop new skills and progress within the Company&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>CIPS. Post Grad Diploma or equivalent <p>PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent</li> <li>Experience of working in Aerospace would be beneficial</li> <li>Familiarity and appreciation of the Corporate environment</li> <li>Second language advantageous</li> <li>UK Driving license</li> </ul>
