<p><strong>Head of Engineering Operations</strong><br /> <br /> <strong>Job Reference:</strong> LE/PW-1<br /> <strong>Salary: </strong>Competitive salary plus excellent airline benefits<br /> <strong>Contract: </strong>Permanent, Full time Hours: 37.5 hours per week<br /> <strong>Location: </strong>The Base, Crawley<br /> <strong>Closing date: 26th October 2016</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>In a nutshell</strong></p> <p>Accountable for effective technical operational and commercial aspects of the Airline flying and maintenance programme and delivery of all VAA?s 3rd party outsourced heavy maintenance requirements, ensuring the highest level of safety and reliability whilst optimising the operational costs. Day to day</p> <p><br /> <strong>Leads Team to deliver:</strong></p> <p>Effective cross functional working, capable of achieving their objectives whilst integrating with Engineering and Maintenance peer group teams to deliver specialist operational and maintenance plan leadership, and having control of the annual departmental budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan and budget.</p> <p>Manage all Tech Ops, Maintrol, Planning and Outsourced Maintenance Staff, ensuring that the required standards of performance, qualification and experience are maintained.</p> <p><br /> <strong>Lead delivery of:</strong></p> <p>24/7 technical crisis management support. 24/7 technical operational management support.</p> <p>Definition and provision of technical and maintenance workscopes.</p> <p>All EASA Part M & Part 145 requirements fulfilled for services provisioned.</p> <p>Definition of Departmental LOIs and EDPs.</p> <p>Deputise for nominated Part M Post Holder as required.</p> <p>Selection and negotiation with MRO maintenance providers.<strong> </strong></p> <p><br /> <strong>Life cycle cost management</strong></p> <p>Accountable for negotiation and management of Technical Operations contracts in area of responsibility, including outsourced base maintenance contracts.</p> <p>Manage fleet assets to meet return conditions and minimise end of lease cost exposure.</p> <p>Effective technical and commercial management of fleet assets to optimise cost of ownership.</p> <p><br /> <strong>MRO, OEMs and Part M regulatory relationship management</strong></p> <p>Manage performance and relationship and act as point of escalation for issues with key suppliers.</p> <p>Develop communication strategies while managing relationships with all airline departments and 3rd party suppliers.</p> <p>Define and agree appropriate service level agreements with suppliers.</p> <p>Develop and maintain the relationship with EASA.</p> <p>Manage asset life-cycle, lease-cycle and maintenance reserve/accruals effectively.</p> <p>Ensure VAA aircraft are delivered to the desired quality, safety and compliance standards.<strong> </strong></p> <p><br /> <strong>About you</strong></p> <p>We are looking for an outstanding leader with strong people and team management skills to take on this pivotal Engineering operations role at Virgin Atlantic. Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you’ll have a proven track record of delivery at a senior level in an operational and people based role. With excellent commercial skills and a strong awareness of the airline industry, you can set a clear strategic direction and then deliver the plans you’ve set through your team.</p> <p>You’ll be a clear and effective communicator, with the ability to influence with impact at all levels.</p> <p>We’re looking for someone who is motivated by developing their team to be the best it can be.
