About this role
<p>As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available at our Leighton Buzzard Facility in the UK, including an <strong>Electrical Design Engineer.</strong></p> <p> </p> <p>Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for Researching, developing and designing the Electrical components, equipment and system installations.</p> <p> </p> <p>Specifically this role is responsible for:<br /> </p> <ul> <li>Defining the installation requirements of electrical systems and components</li> <li>Creating and designing interior cabin furnished monument Electrical drawings and 3D models</li> <li>Ensuring compliance of design to latest customer and airworthiness requirements</li> <li>Checking of engineering data produced by peers</li> <li>Participating in design reviews of Galley electrical installations</li> <li>The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element</li> <li>Ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole</li> <li>Supporting Mechanical Design Engineers within the group with guidance on electrical issues</li> <li>Supporting problem solving during manufacturing build process and through aftermarket queries</li> <li>Customer support</li> <li>Assisting in definition and supplier selection for Galley components and equipment. Ensuring technical, commercial and weight targets are maintained</li> <li>Communicating effectively and professionally with peers, suppliers and customers</li> <li>Development and introduction of new product and product improvements</li> <li>Any other reasonable duties as required<br /> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>We are looking for someone ideally with an Engineering degree or ONC/HNC in an electrical design related field, and knowledge / experience of:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Sufficient engineering capability and experience to create effective engineered solutions</li> <li>Competent user of the incumbent CAD and data management systems – Teamcentre and NX v 7.5 or Catia preferred</li> <li>A working knowledge of the principle of electrical installation and systems integration and design including 3D mechanical design experience, preferably in NX or Catia</li> <li>A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture of electrical and mechanical components and assemblies</li> <li>Able to read and interpreter wire diagrams</li> <li>An understanding of material selection</li> <li>An understanding of protective treatments</li> <li>An understanding of aircraft interior architecture with a working knowledge of Boeing, Airbus requirements would be an advantage.</li> <li>An understanding of the best practice for the integration of mechanical and electrical systems</li> <li>Awareness of the certification framework within which the work is undertaken is preferable.</li> <li>A good working knowledge of the companies change control process</li> <li>A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook</li> <li>Effective oral and written communication skills</li> <li>Good team working skills and the ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention</li> <li>Willing to travel to support company objectives</li> </ul>
