<p><strong>Inspector of Air Accidents (Operations)<br /> Starting Salary £72,944<br /> Aldershot</strong></p> <p>The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) requires Inspectors to join its internationally renowned team of accident investigators. Using your experience as a pilot, your brief will be to investigate the operational aspects of civil aircraft accidents both in the UK and abroad. A proven team player, you will be responsible for establishing the facts relating to an accident or serious incident by interviewing crew members and witnesses, reviewing flight operations, weather and ATC procedures, and investigating relevant human factors.</p> <p>The ability to write first-class, accurate, detailed and timely technical reports is an essential requirement. The role may involve work in physically demanding environmental conditions for which you will be required to undertake a fitness assessment. Additionally, you will be required to have the necessary interpersonal skills to deal with traumatic events and communicate appropriately, including giving evidence in court.</p> <p>You will require a broad-based knowledge of aviation and hold a current ATPL together with command experience on a fixed or rotary wing air transport aircraft type operating in the civil environment.</p> <p>This is a role where your determination, drive and sound judgement will be challenged and stretched.</p> <p>This is quite often a pressurised post requiring considerable dedication and self-motivation. You will be provided with an opportunity to remain current and to maintain your ATPL so that your aviation knowledge is kept up-to-date.</p> <p>A valid UK driving licence is required.
