<p><strong>Aircraft Engineering Coordinator – Cambridge</strong></p> <p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p>Our Air Unit team operate and manage an integrated fleet of aircraft for NERC research, survey and polar logistics. They aim to execute a challenging programme of airborne science and logistics and to provide a worldwide capability that gives the environmental science community access to a range of aircraft platforms and instrumentation. The fleet comprises the five specially adapted aircraft (De Havilland Canada Dash 7 and four Twin Otters).</p> <p>We are looking for an Aircraft Engineering Coordinator to join this team and play a key role in supporting the Head of Aircraft Engineering which in turn will support the new Air Capability 2020 project. This is a great opportunity to join our BAS air unit at a time of change and development.</p> <p><strong>Purpose</strong></p> <p>Provide day-to-day support to Head of Aircraft Engineering in area of aircraft engineering and Continued Airworthiness Management Organisation function for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft.</p> <p><strong>Qualification </strong></p> <p>Licenced aircraft engineer with minimum of one year in CAMO support, or equivalent qualifications/experience as listed in the Skills Specification</p> <p><strong>Duties</strong></p> <ul> <li>Review and challenge when necessary scheduled maintenance costs/charges relating to defect rectification, modifications, spares repair and procurement costs for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft.</li> <li>Review technical data received from maintenance providers in service and at base maintenance events for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft (Aircraft Log Books entries, Tech Logs etc.) for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with BAS and ASSI regulatory requirements). Liaise with maintenance provider on corrective actions, providing BAS specific guidance where necessary.</li> <li>Review received Instructions for Continued Airworthiness resulting from modifications and repairs to BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft, incorporating in to BAS Aircraft Maintenance Programmes and Out Of Phase tracking as necessary</li> <li>Ensure Maintenance Manual Supplemental data held for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft is current and made available to maintenance provider staff at all times.</li> <li>Maintain current and accurate Airworthiness Directive listings for BAS DHC6 aircraft</li> <li>Compile and produce accurate and current Certificate of Airworthiness C of A applications and supporting data to regulator (ASSI) on annual basis for BAS DHC6 aircraft</li> <li>Liaise with Airworthiness Coordinator to ensure accurate and current statuses are maintained for Repairs, Modifications and Service Bulletins for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft resulting from maintenance/modification actions.</li> <li>Produce Engineering Work Requests for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft as necessary and directed by Head of Aircraft Engineering. Maintain current Engineering Work Request register</li> <li>In conjunction with Head of Aircraft Engineering, regularly review Out Of Phase/Forecasting reports issued by Airworthiness Coordinator, identifying in advance possible short term planning/in service issues, and producing/updating Heavy Maintenance Call Up for issue to maintenance provider.</li> <li>Initial review of AD / MSB / SB / SL / Mod. ICA data received, incorporating in to BAS DHC6 and DHC7 AMP as necessary. Escalating AD / MSB actions to Head of Aircraft Engineering as necessary.</li> <li>Provide ad-hoc AOG aircraft recovery technical/logistical support</li> <li>Assist Head of Aircraft Engineering with investigation and supporting actions to resolve MOR's/OR's.</li> <li>Provide day-to-day support to Head of Aircraft Engineering in area of aircraft engineering and Continued Airworthiness Management Organisation function for BAS DHC6 and DHC7 aircraft, and any other reasonable tasks as directed.</li> <li>Deputise for Head of Aircraft Engineering in their absence, as appropriate for their role/experience level, escalating issues upwards as necessary.</li> </ul> <p><strong>SkillsSpecifications</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Communication skills - a) oral skills b) written skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Fluent in written and spoken English language - <em>Essential</em></li> </ul> <p><strong>Computer / IT skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft Word and Excel - <em>Essential</em></li> </ul> <p><strong>Interpersonal skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven Team skills - <em>Essential</em></li> <li>Engagement with maintenance providers, Type Certificate Holders - <em>Essential</em></li> </ul> <p><strong>Numerical ability</strong></p> <ul> <li>GCSE Maths - <em>Essential</em></li> </ul> <p><strong>Skills / Experience/ Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>CGLI, ab-initio, apprenticeship or equivalent training /qualification in aircraft engineering plus minimum four years in aircraft maintenance role - <em>Essential</em></li> <li>CGLI, ab-initio, apprenticeship or equivalent training /qualification in aircraft engineering plus minimum two years in aircraft technical support, or CAMO support role - <em>Essential</em></li> <li>6 years plus experience in a direct CAMO support role - <em>Desirable</em> [1]</li> <li>Licenced aircraft engineer with minimum of one year in CAMO support - <em>Essential</em></li> </ul> <p>These are also available from the Human Resources Section, British Antarctic Survey, High Cross, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0ET.
