<p><strong>Quality Assurance Manager – Aircraft Operations – Cambridge</strong></p> <p><strong>Job reference:</strong> BAS 82/19</p> <p><strong>Contract type: </strong>Full Time</p> <p><strong>Duration:</strong> Open-Ended Appointment</p> <p><strong>Salary: </strong>Starting from £30,782 per annum.</p> <p><strong>Benefits:</strong> We offer generous benefits</p> <p><strong>Team:</strong> British Antarctic Survey</p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> Cambridge (although overseas travel may be necessary).</p> <p><strong>Closing date: </strong>28 July, 2019 11:59 pm</p> <p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p>The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.</p> <p>This role is essential to BAS maintaining Approvals and the associated international standards that allow operation of the DASH 7 and Twin Otters in support of Polar Science. It needs a conscientious approach and attention to detail, as it is required to demonstrate through both internal and external audit processes, compliance with the Regulations associated with aircraft operation.</p> <p>Another cornerstone to the role is the document and procedures management system (Maximo). As an Administrator for this sytem for the Air Unit it enables current versions of mandatory documents to be accessed worldwide (should the need arise). This role manages the system itself and the documents within either directly or by liaison with the persons responsible for their review.</p> <p>The role is key to the Air Unit and covers all the areas from auditing training files, communicating with Regulatory bodies to interaction with international agencies. As such it requires someone who is comfortable delivering to deadlines from a wide range of tasks. They will be a key member of the Air Unit and the wider Polar Operations team.</p> <p><strong>Purpose</strong></p> <p>To ensure BAS maintains the OTAR 125, OTAR 39 approvals and IS-BAO accreditation and to keep abreast of emerging regulations that affect aircraft operation and airworthiness. Many of the functions listed below are critical in maintaining OTAR approvals and consequently the operation of the BAS aircraft fleet.</p> <p><strong>Qualification</strong></p> <p>GCSE Maths and GCSE English (or equivalent).</p> <p><strong>Duties</strong></p> <p># The post holder will be responsible for the Aviation Quality Management System as part of a wider QA team that are responsible for compliance with the regulatory framework of the ships, Station and Cambridge facility.</p> <p>#?The post holder will be responsible for the Aviation Quality Management System and the associated manuals and proccedures.</p> <p>#?Ensure the audit schedule for the year meets the regulatory requirements and carry out required audits for OTAR 39, IS-BAO/OTAR 125.</p> <p>#?Schedule monthly feedback sessions to the Air Unit Accountable Manager to the Health &amp; Safety department quarterly on any issues or concerns.</p> <p>#?Enable IS-BAO accreditation by undertaking internal audits to ensure compliance with IS-BAO and hence OTAR 125 eg Pilot duty times, training records, Hazardous goods transport etc.</p> <p>#?Co-ordinate external audits including those for IS-BAO, and those involving ASSI and the Falkland Islands Civil Aviation dept.</p> <p>#?Act as Administrator for the Air Unit interaction with Maximo.</p> <p>#?Act as Administrator for the computer based training modules eg (Scandlearn).</p> <p>#?Organise and facilitate regular meetings with ASSI to ensure information flow. This will cover both Operational and Engineering aspects and is essential to keeping abreast of future Regulatory requirements.</p> <p>#?Maintain and update the Quality Assurance Manual ensuring that it complies with current standards.
