They are the first line of contact for fault and outage reporting by the ATC Station Manager, Adjacent ATC providers and other external third-party organisation’s. </p> <p> </p> <p><br /> SMC Engineers duties entail performing work involved in corrective and preventative maintenance (Under direct supervision of Engineer Grade), and restoration of equipment/systems to service in the event of failure, and originating NOTAMS regarding outages, they will be required to communicate expected return to service timescales of equipment and systems.<br /> <br /> All equipment and systems must operate with minimum interruptions to service, therefore technical analysis and corrective procedures may have to be carried out during periods of reduced traffic and with an absolute minimum of down time. </p> <p> </p> <p><br /> The demands for restoration of equipment/systems to service in a safety critical environment fall directly on the SMC Engineer, and their work is performed with the awareness that an extended outage may result in aircraft delays. They will ensure that the duration and frequency of such outages are kept to a minimum.<br /> <br /> The SMC Engineer will be expected to analyse and resolve faults within their level of competence in a real-time environment.
