We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in developing satellite configurations to work in a rapid development environment.</p><p><p>The Boeing Defense, Space and Security team is seeking aSenior Mechanical System Design Engineer (Level 4) to support The Phantom Works Division.This position will be responsible for the development, integration and testing of primarily the mechanical system aspects of a small satellite configuration but will also involve working communications systems, sensors, power systems etc. into the overall satellite design. The successful candidate will need to be able to work with systems, electrical, sensor and software engineering subject matter experts, to develop satellite configurations that meet program requirements. The overall design has to account for build, assembly, integration/test and operational aspects of the satellite, covering the entire satellite life cycle. This position is located in Tukwila, WA.</p><p><p>Position includes work in areas within a ~10 mile radius of Tukwila, WA</p><p><p>**Basic Relocation package only for internal candidates and standard relocation has been authorized for external candidates.**</p><p><p><b>Primary Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Leads and provides technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design.</li><li>Leads activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.</li><li>Leads the development, maintenance or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation.</li><li>Performs and documents analyses.</li><li>Manages supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.</li><li>Prioritizes, delegates and tracks performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.</li><li>Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.</li><li>Trains and coaches others.</li><li>Works under minimal direction.</li></ul><p><p><b>This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.</b></p><p><p><b>Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):</b></p><ul><li>5 years or more experience using CAD tools such as Catia.</li></ul><p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):</b></p><ul><li>Experience in development, build and test of small and medium-sized spacecraft.</li><li>Experience in a dynamic rapid prototyping environment, in small highly inter-disciplinary teams.</li><li>Experienceworking with proprietary programs with a variety of Government entities in a classified environment.</li><li>TS/SSBI highly desired.</li></ul><p><p><b>Typical Education/Experience:</b></p><p>Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
