Find your future with us.</p><p><p>Cruise Missile Systems is a growing product development and integration area in the Missiles and Weapon Systems business unit supporting a portfolio of products. Position is in Flight as the Lead Propulsion engineer supporting the Air Vehicle IPT with engineering analysis, integration, and engine supplier management for the SLAM-ER weapon system. Specific activities include engineering analysis of the inlet and exhaust nozzle, integration of the engine into the air vehicle, managing engine supplier activities, fuel system and digital engine control support, wind tunnel testing, modeling and simulation with flight test-based corrections, and support of flight testing. As a member of the Flight Systems Capability, occasional assignments supporting other programs such as HARPOON2IU and in the Advanced Weapons development area of Phantom Works may occur from time to time to support surges in new business.</p><p><p><b>Position Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Supports definitions, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.</li><li>Supports integration of engine subsystem and accessories into the air vehicle.</li><li>Supports definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.</li><li>Supports the development of specifications, architectural, and configuration concepts for associated vehicle system to meet customer and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Supports design of propulsion subsystems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.</li><li>Supports use of various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate propulsion system performance.</li><li>Supports definition and performance of certification tests for propulsion subsystems and components.</li><li>Supports reliability and airworthiness.</li><li>Works under general supervision.</li><li>Responsibilities will include the Propulsion design, development, integration, and demonstration of Boeing cruise missile products.</li></ul><p><p><b>This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.</b></p><p><p><b>Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li>Expertise with turbine-based propulsion systems.</li><li>Experience with modeling and simulation, e.g., engine cycle deck, 6-DOF/3-DOF.</li><li>Experience in air vehicle product development. </li></ul><p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li>Experience in missiles, aircraft, or weapons.</li><li>Experience with engine-airframe integration, familiarity with fuel systems, and power generation systems is desired. </li><li>Experience with providing customer briefing presentations and the US Navy Customer flight certification and safety processes is desired.</li><li>Use of CFD analysis, flight performance is desired.</li><li>Specific tools and skills desired: Tableman, WTDS, OTIS, BCFD, MATLAB, FORTRAN, C/C++, MS Office.</li></ul><p><p><b>Typical Education/Experience:</b></p><p>Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
