<p>This post is for a Linux System Administrator to join the Infrastructure Team as part of the Unix Team and will be jointly responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of the BURN Linux estate.</p><p><p>This includes monitoring the Service Management tool for Incidents , Problems, Service Requests and Change tasks to ensure we are improving the quality and adherence to contractual SLA and KPI requirements of the programme within Boeing Defence UK IT.</p><p><p>This is a hands-on role whereby the successful candidate will need to be highly skilled in multiple Linux-based disciplines with an appreciation of other related Infrastructure disciplines including networking and storage. There will be the requirement to work with other teams to ensure the smooth delivery of Projects and identify opportunities for improvement through automation techniques.</p><p><p>The successful candidate will need to have strong communication and Team working skills.</p><p><p><br />This role will be responsible for:</p><ul><li>Delivery of the Linux-based services supporting Projects</li><li>Providing advice to stakeholders such as Architects, Project Managers</li><li>Reviewing and maintaining documentation</li><li>Performing patching activities</li><li>Monitoring of the Linux estate</li><li>Managing certificates</li><li>Performing fault diagnosis and corrective actions</li><li>Managing Incidents, changes, tasks, problems using the Service Management toolset</li><li>Carrying out daily administrative tasks</li><li>Attending Meetings to support Project work and provide sound advice</li></ul><p><p><p>Experience and knowledge will be required in the following areas:</p><ul><li>Experience in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux role</li><li>Good Linux systems administration skills, including configuration, troubleshooting and scripting.</li><li>Troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.</li><li>Excellent communication skills both written and verbal</li><li>Strong organisational skills</li><li>Working within an ITIL framework</li></ul><p><p><p>Experience and knowledge is also desirable in some of the following areas:</p><ul><li>Mail gateways and proxy servers</li><li>Security monitoring using Splunk Enterprise</li><li>Two-factor authentication</li><li>Vulnerability scanning using Nessus</li><li>Automation tools, ie Ansible</li></ul><p><p><p><b><b>All information provided will be checked and may be verified.</b></b></p><p><b><b>Please apply ASAP for this role as recruitment may commence before the end date.</b></b></p><p><p><b><b>Important information regarding this</b></b><b><b>requisition</b></b>:</p><p>This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK.
