About this role

<p>The Boeing Companys <b>Modification Mechanic</b> performs tear-down, repair, modification and fabrication work on aircraft structures prior to being re-manufactured to specifications required by customers.</p><p><p><b>Position Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aircraft structures to correct failures or implement changes according to specifications and applies aircraft finishes according to specifications</li><li>Drain fluids and cap those components that are needed to prevent leakage and/or damage</li><li>Properly tag parts to identify description, part number, serial number, and the aircraft that it was removed from</li><li>Check/examine components before and after removal to verify accuracy, cleanliness, serial number and flight worthiness for appropriate disposition</li><li>Perform work in accordance with oral or written instructions, blueprints, specifications, diagrams and in conformance with Company standards of safety (including appropriate PPE), workmanship and good housekeeping practice</li></ul><p><p><b>Required Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee</li><li>1+ years of experience in equipment maintenance is required.</li></ul><p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Individuals must have vocational school training (preferably FAA A&P), military/commercial experience or 2 years to 3 years of working knowledge of the removal, build-up and installation of Aircraft sheet metal, components, wiring, hydraulic tubing and flight controls.</li><li>Ability to use detail prints, assembly prints, specifications, shop orders and electronic media to determine correctness of parts, installations, processes and procedures.</li></ul><p><p><b>Typical Education/ Experience:</b></p><ul><li>Education is acquired through high school or trade/vocational training</li><li>Experience is typically through one (1) or two (2) years of experience in this type of work or equivalent type of work</li><li>Skills include ability to read assembly drawings, EOs, shop orders, specifications; use of measuring instruments such as scales, tapes, protractors; use of jigs and fixtures; shop arithmetic; use of hand tools; and departmental equipment</li></ul><p><p><b>Other Relevant Information and Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>This is an hourly position governed by the UAW Collective Bargaining agreement.</li><li>This position does not offer relocation.
