<p>Boeing Defense Space and Security is seeking an <b>Associate Orbit Analyst </b>who will be responsible for maintaining established orbit design and optimization guidelines for a 24x7 operational system. Candidate will utilize orbital-based analysis tools to meet operational objectives.</p><p><br /><b>Position Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Candidate will support software checkout for accuracy in meeting operational objectives</li><li>Candidate must work well in a tight-knit team environment, and have reliable work attendance</li><li>Candidate must be capable of real time support with solid skills in orbital operations (orbit determination, attitude estimation, space system visibility with ground, and anomaly resolution)</li><li>Ability to collect, organize, synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings: develop conclusions and implement solutions</li><li>Consistently and pro-actively works with team members to solve complex problems</li><li>Able to problem solve in a clear and concise manner, have strong communication skills and able to work independently with minimal supervision</li><li>Candidate will support software checkout for accuracy in meeting operational objectives</li><li>Candidate must work well in a tight-knit team environment, and have reliable work attendance</li><li>Knowledge/coursework regarding the following topics: Celestial Mechanics: Complete knowledge of celestial spherical geometry, optimization methods, orbit determination theory and methods and statistical analysis. Orbital Mechanics: Complete ability to design trajectories and orbits in space, determine vehicle orbit and attitude correction maneuvers, perform trade studies and generate optimal trajectory timelines.</li></ul><p><p><b>This is a variable, with a defined rotating shift schedule.</b></p><p><p><b>This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).</b></p><p><p><b>Ability to obtain and maintain system operations certification is required.</b></p><p><p><b>Security Clearance/Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position. </b></p><p><p><b>BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry</li><li>Experience and/or classroom training in orbital mechanics</li><li>Experience with any of the following to interpret, analyze, and develop data for support requirements</li><li>This position will require working shift work that help cover a 24/7 posture including holidays and weekends</li></ul><p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li>Experience in satellite/aerospace operations environment</li><li>Experience in orbit analysis and prediction</li><li>Familiarity with Linux and Windows</li><li>Familiarity with MatLab</li><li>Familiarity with a scripting language (i.e. Perl,Python)</li><li>In-depth understanding of probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane/solid geometry and trigonometry</li><li>Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, applies visual and, spatial reasoning, draws valid conclusions, and conveys the information to various stakeholders.</li><li>Interprets abstract variables, mathematical instruction, and derived data to form a succinct path forward.</li><li>Provides maintenance and development support for software and derives algorithm requirements for data analysis to expand operational capabilities.</li><li>Determines mission operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, risk definition, requirements, solution development, testing and proposed path forward.</li></ul><p><p><b>Typical Education & Experience: </b><br />Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.</p><p><p><b>Relocation:</b></p><p>Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
