<p>Boeing Research an Technology (BR&T) has an exciting opportunity for a<b> Senior </b><b>Materials, Processes, and Physics Engineer (Level 5)</b> to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role will design the first heavy lift vehicle to each Mars on Core Stage for Space Launch System (SLS), working hand in hand with the SLS Chief Design Engineer.</p><p></p><p>This position requires background in various metallic materials such as steels, aluminums, titanium, and nickel alloys, where design solutions are needed to meet requirements in flammability, hydrogen embrittlement, corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, welding, and forgings design. In addition, this position would be expected to lead M&P-related root cause and corrective action activities and work closely with the SLS Chief Engineer. The successful candidate is a self- starter and willing to take on major issues and technical tasks on Core Stage production or development.</p><p></p><p><b>Position Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li><p>Lead team in day-to-day tasks</p></li><li><p>Provide technical expertise</p></li><li><p>Advise on the right engineering approach and help resolve technical risks and issues</p></li><li><p>Coach, train and mentor</p></li><li><p>Define and deploy engineering best practices and methods</p></li><li><p>Represent/Lead group in technical discussions with management and other organizations</p></li><li><p>Identify technical challenges to program leadership</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with program office as well as NASA customers</p></li><li><p>Review and concur with designs and/or analyses and subsequent changes</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance to documented processes as well as champion process improvement efforts</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate and/or approve method of compliance to requirements</p></li><li><p>Support definition of requirements, functions and interfaces</p></li><li><p>Support risk and opportunity management effort</p></li><li><p>Review and concur with problem/issue/nonconformance resolution, Material Review Board (MRB), waivers and/or deviations</p></li><li><p>Conducting drawing reviews which includes familiarity with process specifications, assembly and installations</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.</b></p><p></p><p><b>Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry</p></li><li><p>10+ years of experience in materials and processes engineering</p></li><li><p>Experience as a team lead</p></li><li><p>Experience with RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action)</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering</p></li><li><p>Experience in polymers, composites, adhesives, sealants and coatings</p></li><li><p>Strong communication skills, able to coordinate with team members to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.</p></li><li><p>Experience developing relationships with various customers and suppliers</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Typical Education/Experience:</b> </p><p>Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.</p><p></p><p><b>Relocation:</b></p><p>Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
