<p>Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Engineering (GN&C) Manager to join our Guidance Navigation and Control unit located in Seal Beach, CA.</p><p></p><p>As a Flight Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to perform engineering and technical activities in the areas of Flight Engineering. You will be developing and executing integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. You will cultivate and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. In addition, you will be managing employees and first-level managers by developing and motivating them to achieve excellence.</p><p></p><p><b><b>Position Responsibilities</b></b></p><p></p><ul><li>Provide leadership across all phases of GN&C development lifecycle to an exceptionally high performing team of engineers.</li><li>Overall team leadership, task planning, product management, process compliance, risk management, metrics definition and earned value reporting for all GN&C, avionics & aerodynamics development tasks.</li><li>Responsible for reporting development cost, schedule, and technical performance to program management.</li><li>Typical products control law design, navigation design, pointing design, guidance design, attitude control design, sensors, effectors, motor control, actuation design, avionics, aerodynamics, performance & analysis reports, testing and program status briefings.</li><li>Application to space environments andatmospheric environments.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required). Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.</b></b></p><p></p><p><b><b>Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)</b></b></p><ul><li>A Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.</li><li>15 years of experience in an engineering leadership role (either as a lead or a manager).</li><li>15 years of experience with aircraft, missile, spacecraft, autonomous platform or similar vehicle Guidance, Navigation or Control systems?</li><li>15 years of experience leading or managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects or teams of 15 or more people</li><li>15 years of experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Experience working with astrodynamics.</li><li>Experience working with classical and modern control theory/design/analysis.</li><li>Experience operating in aerospace environments.</li><li>Experience working with aerodynamics.</li><li>Experience working with navigation controls (Kalman filters, GPS/INS, state determination, attitude estimation).</li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Typical Education & Experience</b></b></p><p>Bachelor's and 15 or more years' experience, Master's with 11 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
