Professionals within the airline industry are renowned for their technical ability, speedy response, and precision. And now, thanks to the innovative jobseeker accounts at Flightglobal Jobs, it is possible to apply these attributes to your job hunt.

“Opening a jobs account, and uploading your CV, means that your career details will be read and considered by the major recruiters and consultancies whenever a relevant position arises”, says Sophie Wild, sales manager for Flight Global recruitment.

“Relevant recruiters become aware of your skills and experience very quickly - it is like being head-hunted. We feature an average of 635 live jobs a day on the Flightglobal pages, and having an account will give you even quicker access to these.”

Account holders reap the benefits of more than 100 years of expertise which has been invested in Flightglobal. “Airlines, our readers, recruiters, and candidates trust us”, says Wild. “Recruiters come to us for quality candidates, and candidates know that we are read by the key players.”

She explains that holding an account is a way for job seekers to be associated with a brand which is nearly as old as aviation itself.

“We have a strong pedigree”, says Wild. “The first copy of Flight International Magazine was published in 1909, and we have grown to be a truly global brand, with offices in the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore and Europe.”

The account also gives job seekers an edge over their rivals, by alerting them to relevant adverts. “When you are registered you are among the first to hear of the new opportunities”, says Wild.

So, your place on the recruiters’ radars is only a few clicks away. To make sure that your name is seen by all the right people, follow our top tips to opening an account.

Tailored opportunities

The first stage is to familiarise yourself with the site, and to look at how you can tailor your initial jobs search, not just by job title and location, but by specifying contracted hours and job level.

Flightglobal will add impetus to your jobs search because, unlike general jobs sites, all the jobs are aviation-specific jobs. “It is a specialist jobs site for a specialist industry”, says Wild, “which is why it appeals to the companies who work with us.”

Jobs by email

Speed is of the essence during a jobs search, and to make sure that you are the first to hear of jobs which match your criteria, you can create up to five email alerts.

To make sure that you are alerted to any other suitable jobs added to the site, simply insert your email address in the space at the top of the screen. This ensures that readers get the latest jobs in the criteria they have specified, as soon as they are advertised on the site.

Be discovered

Adding your career profile to the Flightglobal database makes it easier to attract recruiters’ attention - all you have to do is open an account by clicking on the button on the right hand side of the page.

“Many recruiters have email alerts, because they may be looking for a particular type of candidate such as an A340 First Officer, and so, as soon as a candidate matching that profile loads their CV, it is instantly sent to the recruiters’ inbox”, says Wild.

“The advantage to candidates who have opened an account is that recruiters are recognising that they have to be more proactive”, says Wild. “Recruitment requirements are increasing, airlines are expanding and there aren’t that many fully qualified pilots. A lot of growth is coming from the Middle East, and especially from Asia, so this puts pressure on recruiters.”

Wild explains that recruiters are conscious that they not only have to find credible candidates but secure them, often when their competitors may have found them too, and so the Flightglobal CV database and email alert are highly regarded because they give recruiters an advantage.

Stay in the spotlight

When a CV is added or amended it goes to the top of the recruiters’ searches. They scout for good candidates by searching for the most recently updated (as opposed to three-year-old) CVs, and so it is sensible to refresh your CV regularly (perhaps every two months) which will help you stay on top of the pile.

Effective CVs are those which state your qualifications clearly and, for roles as pilots and engineers, acknowledge that technical capability and safety are crucial.

Use the Careers Hub

All jobseekers can consult the Flightglobal Careers Hub which will give you lots of advice on how to position your skill set, and includes interviews with recruiters about the candidates they will be looking for in 2016.

Social Media

Social media has become invaluable for job hunters, says Wild, advising that @flightglobaljobs shows jobs which have been updated on the site.
