<p>easyJet has long been recognised for its dedication to training new entrants to the aviation industry, be they flight crew or ground/support staff. Witness its push for a greater percentage of female pilots via its “AmyJohnson Initiative”. Now it is confirming that commitment by opening up recruitment for another Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship Programme.</p>
<p>The airline will be accepting applications from 3 June for the two year course, comprising both classroom and practical training, the first eight months of which takes place at Resource Group operation, Aviation Technical Training, at Humberside Airport. This is followed by sixteen months of on-the-job training with easyJet at both Luton and Gatwick airports.</p>
<p>Apprentices will graduate with recognised qualifications and the experience and skills needed to accelerate their career. Plus there is permanent role at easyJet with a package of up to £30,000 per annum available to those who are successful from the 14 recruits awarded a place on this year’s intake.</p>

<p>According to Katie Edney, an easyJet engineering apprentice who took the course in 2017, the easyJet apprenticeship develops all the skills that are required within the aviation industry as well as providing a measure of experience through the aforementioned on-the-job training. “The course is very well structured and you feel that everything you are learning is real and applicable to your future career,” Edney comments.</p>
<p>easyJet’s engineering apprenticeship scheme has been in place since 2012 and complements the airlines cabin crew apprenticeship scheme and the operational control centre apprenticeship programme, both of which were launched earlier in 2019.</p>
<p>In addition to accepting applications through the “Careers” section on its website, the airline will hold two open evenings where prospective candidates can meet members of easyJet’s engineering team and training facilitators to learn more about the programme. These will be held on Tuesday 4 June from 17:30 to 20:00 at the Hilton Hotel Gatwick and on Thursday 6 June from 17:30 to 20:00 at easyJet’s academy at London Luton Airport.</p>
