<p>For new candidates at the start of their journey to becoming a pilot, Lithuania’s BAA Training has good news with the expansion of its <em>ab initio</em> flight school, with the addition of a new base in Spain. The company is also developing its ATPL training through becoming a partner for ATPL Integrated theoretical training provided to students at France’s Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC).</p>

<p>BAA Training has been involved in <em>ab initio</em> training since 2009, and collaborating with major airlines for cadet training programmes since 2016. The company currently has more than 310 students at its Ab Initio school. Only last year, the Academy opened its first flight base in Spain at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport.</p>
<p>In 2019, the growth in partnering airlines for the cadet training programmes has continued, so with the continuingly growing student number BAA Training is now adding a second base in Spain at Castellón Airport, north of Valencia.</p>
<p>Students will also be able to take advantage of new aircraft as BAA Training is supplementing its fleet of 11 Tecnam P2002JF, two Tecnam P2006T and six Cessna 172S aeroplanes through a €6 million investment. A further €10 million investment in aircraft will follow in 2021.</p>
<p>“The talks about pilot shortage are far gone being just talks,” emphasises Egle Vaitkeviciute, CEO at BAA Training. “Cooperating with major airlines on the market and sharing experience, we see evidence of the growing need not only for pilots but for training capacity as well. Adding one more flight base in [southern Europe] not only allows us to deliver year-round training to our current students, but to expand our capabilities to meet the growing market needs for pilot training.”</p>
<p>As noted, BAA Training has also signed an agreement with ENAC. The latter provides a broad of range of aeronautics and aviation training is also known for its training of ATPL and MPL pilots for airlines including Air France, Transavia, China Eastern, China Southern, Lao Airline, Oman Air and Royal Air Maroc. At present it produces 180 airline pilots and 75 instructors yearly, but that number is expected to rise, which is why ENAC has turned to BAA Training has been chosen to become a partner and deliver part of the pilot training. Approved by French Civil Aviation Authority under ENAC ATO, BAA Training will start providing pilot training for first ENAC Training at the beginning of 2020.</p>

It is a dynamic and efficient flight school and its Vilnius facilities and organisation already reach high standards. [We have ] worked together and received the approval of the French Authorities and [are] confident in this partnership and its future development.”</p>
