The Safety Management System Workshop contains all the elements covered in the 3-day introductory SMS course . Additionally. the course will provide participants the opportunity work together in the development of the necessary documentation required to implement and manage the SMS in the organization. This course will give participants the tools to fulfill the ICAO/JAA/EASA requirements for a SMS. The course will provide a wealth of advanced materials and samples that can be used in the company Safety Management System (Flight, hanger, flight line, maintenance, shop, etc.) Participants will also receive an additional CD/Memory Stick from the instructor containing all advanced materials for this course.<br /><br />This is an application level course and students should plan to bring the following: A laptop computer with memory stick. Hard copy and electronic copies of their current Flight Safety Program and Safety Management System (Flight, hanger, flight line, maintenance, shop, etc.) that you are willing to share with other students. Content The topics covered include: All components of an effective Safety Management System to include topics on: 1. Safety Policy and Objectives · Management commitment and responsibility · Safety accountabilities of managers · Appointment of key safety personnel · SMS implementation plan · Coordination of emergency response planning · Documentation 2. Safety Risk Management · Hazard identification process · Risk assessment and mitigation process 3. Safety Assurance · Safety performance monitoring and measurement · The management of change · Continuous improvement of the SMS 4. Safety promotion · Training and education · Safety communication <br />Content <br /> <br />Learning Objectives: At the completion of this course attendees will be able to: Act as an efficient safety management resource to the Accountable Manager and other managers in the Safety System. Assess your current Safety Management System. Modify and tailor your current Safety Management System. Incorporate industry "best practices" into the Safety Management System. Network and share information and materials with other attendees in the class. Identify and use the supplemental resources provided in this course to further develop, implement, and manage an effective Safety Management System<br /> <br />Target Group: Safety Managers and other key management personnel who will be instrumental in the development, implementation, and management of an organizational SMS. Authority representative who will be responsible for approving, auditing, and monitoring the SMS system.
