<p><strong>Safety Management Expert</strong></p> <p><strong>Closing Date for Applications</strong><br /> 28 Feb 2020</p> <p><strong>Directorate</strong></p> <p>Technology &amp; Training</p> <p><strong>Reports To (Job Title)</strong></p> <p>Head of Safety Management</p> <p><strong>Job Purpose</strong></p> <p>Safety Management</p> <p><strong>Direct Reports</strong></p> <p>None</p> <p>Main Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The Safety Management Unit of the IAA is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Safety Management System, providing expert safety and risk management advise, internal SMS compliance oversight, and related training to management and staff of the Authority’s Air Navigation Service Provider.<br /> <br /> The Safety Management SMS Expert in Risk and Safety Management provides critical review to all safety risk assessment and endorsement activities and will ensure the for timely provision of SMU expert safety and risk management advice, training, guidance and support to the Service Providers operational and technical units.<br /> <br /> The successful candidate will be working within the Safety Management Unit (SMU) and will be based at our Head Office in The Times Building, 11-12 D’Olier Street, Dublin 2. &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Skills Required</strong></p> <p>•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A minimum of three years as a licenced Air Traffic Controller or;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A third level qualification at degree level or equivalent preferably with an engineering, technical, or science specific qualification<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Experience and involvement in safety assessments, analysis, reporting, recommendations and follow up (preferably in the Aviation or a Safety critical industry, Chemical, Nuclear or Transport industry sectors).</p> <p><strong>Skills Desirable</strong></p> <p>•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Experience of working in a regulatory environment<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A thorough knowledge of the organisation and structure of Air Traffic Management (ATM)/ Air Navigation Services (ANS) and an appreciation and understanding of regulatory requirements and developments relevant to Safety Management System (SMS).<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A good working knowledge and understanding of SMS principles and Risk Assessment methodologies and processes;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A broad knowledge of the IAA and the functions and operations of other relevant international authorities and aviation organisation's such as ICAO, Euro control, EASA, CANSO etc<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A proven track record of working independently;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A well-developed sense of teamwork, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Be highly motivated and customer focused and have a proven record of using initiative and judgement<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Knowledge of the range of Air Traffic Services (ATS) and of Air Traffic Control operations processes</p> <p>Relationships</p> <p>Internal:<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; General Managers<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Unit Safety managers.<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Domain Managers<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Heads of Service<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Safety Regulatory Directorate<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Corporate Directorates<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Internal Auditor<br /> <br /> External:<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Euro control<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; ICAO<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; CANSO<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; EU<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; EASA<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Other Service Providers<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Customers<br /> -&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Suppliers<br /> &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>How to Apply / Contact:</strong></p> <p>Applications, including details of career to date and a brief outline of how your skill set meets the requirements for the position sought, should be sent in strict confidence to: ciaran.buckley@iaa.ie&nbsp; Short-listing may apply.<br /> <br /> A panel may be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.</p> <p>The closing date for receipt of applications is 17:00 hrs on Friday, 28th February 2020.&nbsp;</p> <p>Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
