<p><strong>Safety Management Expert<br /> Irish Aviation Authority</strong></p> <p>The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is a commercial semi-state company that oversees the safety and security of Irish civil aviation, provides air traffic management (ATM) services in Irish airspace and at State airports and communication services on the eastern North Atlantic. The IAA receives no funding from the State and circa 80% of our income is earned from international business.&nbsp;</p> <p>We are currently seeking applications from appropriately qualified candidates for the position of Safety Management Expert.&nbsp;</p> <p>The successful candidate will be working within the Safety Management Unit (SMU) and will be based at our Head Office in The Times Building, 11-12 D’Olier Street, Dublin 2. &nbsp;</p> <p>The Safety Management Unit of the IAA is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Safety Management System, providing expert safety and risk management advise, internal SMS compliance oversight, and related training to management and staff of the Authority’s Air Navigation Service Provider.</p> <p><strong>Safety Management Expert</strong></p> <p>The Safety Management SMS Expert in Risk and Safety Management provides critical review to all safety risk assessment and endorsement activities and will ensure the timely provision of SMU expert safety and risk management advice, training, guidance and support to the Service Providers operational and technical units.</p> <p><strong>Qualifications<br /> Essential:</strong><br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A previously or currently licensed Air Traffic Control Officer&nbsp;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A third level qualification at degree level or equivalent preferably with an engineering, technical, or science specific qualification<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrated experience in the development and application of safety assessments, analysis, reporting, recommendations and follow up preferably in ATM. Relevant and demonstrated experience in other areas of Aviation or Safety critical industries such as &nbsp;Chemical, Nuclear may be considered).</p> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong><br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Experience of working in a regulatory environment<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A thorough knowledge of the organisation and structure of Air Traffic Management (ATM)/ Air Navigation Services (ANS) and an appreciation and understanding of regulatory requirements and developments relevant to Safety Management System (SMS).<br /> A good working knowledge and understanding of SMS principles, including Auditing &nbsp;and Risk Assessment methodologies and processes;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrated experience of providing training on SMS processes<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A broad knowledge of the IAA and the functions and operations of other relevant international authorities and aviation organisations such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, EASA, CANSO etc<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A proven track record of working independently;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;A well-developed sense of teamwork, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;<br /> •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Be highly motivated and customer focused and have a proven record of using initiative and judgement</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>How to Apply / Contact</strong></p> <p>Applications, including details of career to date and a brief outline of how your skill set meets the requirements for the position sought, should be sent in strict confidence to: ciaran.buckley@iaa.ie &nbsp;Short-listing may apply. &nbsp; A panel may be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.</p> <p>The closing date for receipt of applications is 17:00 hrs Friday 27th March&nbsp;2020. &nbsp;A competitive salary is offered and will be commensurate with relevant experience.&nbsp;</p> <p><br /> The Irish Aviation Authority is committed to a policy of equal opportunity</p>
