<p><strong>THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY</strong></p> <p>The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a government-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong.  It offers programmes at various levels including Doctorate, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees.  It has a full-time academic staff strength of around 1,200.  The total annual consolidated expenditure budget of the University is in excess of HK$7.6 billion.</p> <p><strong>DEPARTMENT OF AERONAUTICAL AND AVIATION ENGINEERING</strong></p> <p><strong>Chief Training Instructor </strong>(Ref. 220621009-IE)</p> <p>In line with the strategic development of the University and to lead the development of the aeronautical and aviation engineering discipline in teaching and research activities, the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering was established in the Faculty of Engineering. The Unit currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and actively engages in various research and consultancy work. Please visit the website at <a href="https://www.polyu.edu.hk/aae/" rel="no-follow">https://www.polyu.edu.hk/aae/</a> for more information about the Unit.</p> <p><strong>Duties </strong></p> <p>The appointee will be required to:</p> <p>(a)    develop and design high quality training syllabi and teaching materials conforming to internal standards and external authorities;</p> <p>(b)    supervise trainees, prepare performance documentation of trainees during theoretical instruction;</p> <p>(c)    arrange examinations in cooperation with administrative offices and coordinate examinations with external authorities;</p> <p>(d)    provide training, educational development, standardization and guidance to training personnel;</p> <p>(e)    arrange regular inspections and trainings for instructors in accordance with internal guidelines, and supervise them on implementation of safety policies and standards;</p> <p>(f)     monitor and implement changes on regulations and safety standards, including adherence to these standards;</p> <p>(g)    compile statistics for management evaluation activities and evaluate safety performance and safety records in order to avoid the occurrence of undesirable trends;</p> <p>(h)    record and analyze any deviations from specific standards and implement corrective actions and preventive actions;</p> <p>(i)     promote culture of safety, quality, and adherence to policies and overall performance standard, as well as risk awareness and associated behavior;</p> <p>(j)     ensure comprehensive documentation and record management/storage/archive and liaise with Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department regarding administration and coordination of the documentation;</p> <p>(k)    ensure all subordinates meet the qualification requirements for their activities, by managing and planning continuous education and career development of the subordinates; and</p> <p>(l)     perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.</p> <p><strong>Qualifications </strong></p> <p>Applicants should have:</p> <p>(a)    a recognised degree;</p> <p>(b)    at least eight years of aviation experience either in an engineering or a flight crew role;</p> <p>(c)    a proven record in conducting professional pilot training courses within an approved Flight Training Organisation;</p> <p>(d)    attendance record of a recognised course in instructional skills;</p> <p>(e)    effective classroom teaching skills;</p> <p>(f)     a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service; and</p> <p>(g)    qualifications which are acceptable to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department Flight Standards Division.</p> <p>Preference will be given to holders of an Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence issued by a recognised regulatory authority.</p> <p><strong>Conditions of Service </strong></p> <p>A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.</p> <p><strong>Application </strong></p> <p>Please submit an application through PolyU’s career website (<a href="https://jobs.polyu.edu.hk/management" rel="no-follow">https://jobs.polyu.edu.hk/management</a>).  <strong>Consideration of applications will commence on 4 July 2022 until the positions are filled. </strong>The University’s Personal Information Collection Statement for recruitment can be found at <a href="https://www.polyu.edu.hk/hro/careers/pics_for_recruitment/" rel="no-follow">https://www.polyu.edu.hk/hro/careers/pics_for_recruitment/</a>.</p> <p><em>PolyU is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusivity.  All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to gender, ethnicity, nationality, family status or physical or mental disabilities.</em></p>
